Just a quick update as lots of good stuff going on....
As previously noted, TRY has a wonderful new office space at 500 Nepperhan Avenue. I am proud to say that I have built about 75% of the furniture with a minimum of frustration. I have to say though after building this stuff, I think it might be some sort of conspiracy - or at least a big joke that the manufacturers have on the folks that buy this stuff. I mean really....I bought a set that has three pieces that make up a unit. They have hundreds of little screws, nuts and nails in these little biggies that they title alphabetically. Yet, they refuse to put them in any sort of alphabetical or chronological order -- doesn't make sense. The one thing I'll say is that it's always great to buy multiple pieces of the same thing. Yesterday I built the second desk and shelf in less time than it took me to build about half of the first desk. So that's a positive
But I digress...
I'm very excited for Teens Run Yonkers Summer Program. We'll be doing both late, late, late afternoon runs as well as an early morning shift. Maximum sun avoidance is of course the goal. We'll also be throwing in a few surprises to the training to keep things interesting. But I'm not writing about that here..
Finally, also pleased to have some great new interns starting this week and I'm sure they'll be a big help in expanding our program, enhancing our volunteer recruitment, training and management and filling the blogoswaves. Yes - I sort of made that up. OK, so I can't resist - (WARNING: SEINFELD TRIVIA BREAK) interns, hmmmm. Makes me think of Kramerica and his days with Darrin. So, what school did Darrin come from? Now here's a toughie - Kramerica Industries was mentioned in another, much earlier Seinfeld episode - which one? Finally, after the failure of the blotter/ink project, what was the next initiative suggested? Was Darrin able to help with it? heeeelllloo (the voice)
